Coax Connector #1 (CONV) is used for a VHF convertor connection.

Coax Connector #2 is a nominal 50 ohm impedance connector (such as with
your current antenna connector).

The “speaker wire input” connectors are for single wire inputs. The tab
on the left is a 50 ohm input. The center tab is ground. The tab on the
right is for high impedance (500 ohm) single wire input.

If you want to use a random wire (single lead antenna conveniently
strung for your location) antenna for your camping trip, try the 50 or
500 ohm tab connection.

I donâ€Öt know what your 40â€Ö wire antenna looks like and donâ€Öt know if you
want to bring it along on your camping expedition.

Personally, I would buy or build an inexpensive antenna tuner for use
with a random wire antenna and then use the Coax Connector #2.

Hi

I have a drake r8 receiver that I bought years ago and a wire antenna
(40 ft wire) that has a coax connector on it. I would like to set this
up at my camp. What type of connector would I need to go from the coax
connector on the antenna to one of the antenna inputs on the receiver?
There are two coax-like inputs and another antenna input that is similar
to speaker wire inputs. Any advice appreciated

Tyler
