Kevin,

LinBPQ does not use the kernel ax.25, so any port used by LinBPQ shouldn't
be included in a kissattach, and doesn't need any entries in axports.
Assuming you have Direwolf set to create /tmp/kisstnc, then your LinBPQ
config should work. You'll have to make sure Direwolf starts first as LinBPQ
needs the virtual tnc to be created before it starts. For that reason I'd
recommend using KISS over TCP for the link between Direwolf and LinBPQ
instead of a virtual com port. as that would allow DIrewolf to be restarted
without having to restart LinBPQ.

You'll also need to add a Telnet port, as the LinBPQ Mail and Chat servers
use a web based configuration system which uses the Telnet port. You can
then also use TermTCP to monitor what LinBPQ is seeing from the TNC.

73,
John

Subject: [BPQ32] linbpq vs ax25

I've been playing with setting up a Raspberry Pi with direwolf and linbpq.
Direwolf config is good, it's decoding packets, and using axcall I can
connect out to others nodes (when configuring axports, and using
kissattach/mkiss).

The part I might be misunderstanding is whether linbpq needs or requires
ax25 config or not, or what the relationship is between the two? Does linbpq
require ax25 config? I've thing I've read elsewhere that it is a replacement
for ax25, is that right? If this is true then is the minimum I need to do is
startup direwolf and then start up linbpq?

I'm asking because at this point I seem to have got lost in the
axports/kissattach/mkiss config, and my libbpq node/bbs/chat doesn't respond
to incoming connections from another radio. I think I need to step back and
simplify my config.

Here's my axports:
1 KK6DCT-2 38400 253&nb sp; 2 2m packet
2 KK6DCT-4 38400 253 2 link to pilinbpq node
3 KK6DCT-5 38400 253 2 bbs
4 KK6DCT-6 38400 253 2 chat

Here's my bpq32.cfg:
