A second user clearly sees that the status is D i.e. someone has

already taken the message for delivery. Then better
modify the
list command to show only TN and TY.

I am not happy with killing. A user may log into the
system kill
all NTS messages and they will be deleted by the
housekeeping
process the next minute. Not what I really dream of.

“No further need on the BBSö means to me that the
housekeeping
process should care for the message.

The "D" does not prevent a different User from downloading and dealing
with the message a second time.
And, if a User has indeed downloaded the message for further handling,
then there should be no further use of the message on the bbs.

In my opinion, the "D" is superfluous.

The äD“ command is to mark a message as being delivered

Killing implies that the message should be removed from
the system which is performed by the housekeeping process.
This is a completely different thing.

When a User downloads and delivers (or re-routes) an NTS message, he
should immediately delete the NTS from the bbs to prevent a
different User from later downloading and delivering the same
message. Otherwise, duplicates will be generated. Modern User
programs (Outpost) provide a convenient means to handle this.

It seems there is a disagreement between NTS operators. I was
        asked towards
the end of 2014 to allow any user to kill NTS messages.
        Unfortunately I
can’t remember who it was who asked. Perhaps whoever it was
        could join this
        discussion.

        Hi all,

it seems to me that a normal user (not sysop) is
allowed to kill NTS message with any status (except
        for already killed messages).

         >From my perspective only a sysop should be allowed
to kill NTS messages. Any thoughts?
