N5VLZ:
GE All, and welcome to the Dec 8 2025 PCL Net.
K0WAV was short time tonight. No early checkins.
Net order is Daryl, Bob (NY), Tony, Glenn, and
Francois...and whoever else shows up.
Our final PCL Net for the year is next Monday,
Dec. 15. We will then be OFF until Jan. 5, 2026.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy
New Year.
Sorry I missed last week. I was doing The Weather
Watch Net for Arkansas Skywarn with freezing rain
across the region. We had sleet and snow 2 days
later. There were wrecks, but overall, it was
minor compared to other areas. It'll be near 60
on Wednesday, but we may not get out of the 30s
this weekend. At least it'll be dry. I just hope
it's not 1 month of winter (December), then we
start tornado season 2 months early.
I decided to get myself a Christmas present of a
new internet package with Xfinity. It'll cost $42
more a month, but I'll have 300 Mbps speed, and
wi-fi backup to nearby cell towers, if the local
internet goes down.
I nearly threw my back out trying to move a heavy
box that I had ordered from Amazon, full of Hormel
Compleats meals and Nabisco Cookies. It was a bear
to move it, but I have enough food and drink for
the rest of the year.
I had a time recording the audio transcript for
the QCWA Journal for December 2025. A LONG vintage
radio article dealt with loctals, nuvistors, and
compactron tubes. But, there was a lighter moment,
in one chapter reporting on their eating meeting.
One member orders a small pizza with everything on
it, including jalapenos...and he wants it "extra
crispy". The order the waitress gives the cook may
have just a number on it (as with a combo meal),
she gets the drink, and the chef prepares the rest.
Anyway, they had to keep sending the pizza back, as
it "wasn't done enough". So, the note to the chef
on cooking the pizza, also appeared on the receipt --
"burnt to s***!!" -- it gives the term "blackened"
a whole new meaning!! (hi hi).
I am redoing the ham radio humor file, changing out
the memes for text descriptions. This way, blind
hams can enjoy the ham radio humor. It was suggested
by a blind ham on the HandiHams Radio Club Net meeting
on Sunday.
Once I get more comfortable with remotehams.com
(that's the free one), I'll be able to get on HF more.
Any elmering would be greatly appreciated.
GE Bob, thanks for taking the net for me last week.
How was your week?? >>>
**
NS2B:
GE All!
Another week of running to Syarcuse to take care of
MaryJo's mom. She's not getting any better. At 91
years old, maybe she's not going to...
Cleared Hamword today in 4 guesses.
And discovered that sometime recently PiStar must
have had an update that now has it doing automatic
daily updates. I don't mind, just wish I had been
made more aware of that.
It's cold here. 16F - I know there are colder places.
But this is cold enough for me!
BTU Daryl >>>

N5VLZ:
Bob, it's 37 here now. My last lawn mow of the season
is tomorrow, then I don't need that again until April.
They did an update with the beta version of the M1KE,
with some new features. Sorry for hear about MaryJo's
Mom.
GE Tony, welcome to the net. We're here most Mondays,
except during US holiday weeks. How was your week?? >>>
KC1YKV:
GE Daryl and everyone on the net!
This is my first time joining in. I'm actually a new
ham. I just got my license last month after a long
wait from the shutdown.
I've been interested in packet radio and am so happy
to have found this net.
This week has been good. I was able to escape
Massachusetts for a few days. The days were getting
far too cold for me. I just got to Florida to visit
my family, and am enjoying the 70 degree weather. I
don't envy that 16F Bob, much prefer the warm.
Looking forward to learning more in the hobby and
joining in more of these nets.
BTU Daryl

N5VLZ:
Tony, first, welcome to the hobby. Second, if you go
to my bio on QRZ (N5VLZ), there is a link there for
lists of D-Star, D-Rats, and Echolink Nets in Excel
or PDF format, in the 4 US time zones, plus ham radio
files.
Florida (Miami) is my old stomping grounds...moved to
Arkansas in 1977 when my late father's job transferred
us here. Be back to you for the 73 round in a bit.
GE Glenn, how was your week?? >>>
**
N3MEL:
Good evening everyone, congrats Tony, welcome to the
hobby, and to packet radio!
Been a while since I have had a Monday night to check
in here but it nice to see you all here tonight.
Getting ready for the Dec PKTNET, it will be a week
earlier this month due to Christmas.
Lost my G5RV again, only this time it could not be
repaired. A tree limb got it a week ago. Ordered a new
one, and it arrived tonight; but after dark, so it will
have to wait till tomorrow after work to get hung.. I
am using my lower Fan Dipole antenna for TPRFN, but it
is not near a good as the g5rv, so looking forward to
getting back up.
Well think that is it so BTU Daryl>>>

N5VLZ:

We're here most Mondays, except the weeks of US Holidays
(Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years). It is after all,
winter...but the summer heat will be back soon enough.
That is it for round 1...back to the top for final comments.
